MUG Software License Issue--The Final Word
"Here's the scoop. Apple made a strategic decision to become the exclusive distributor of Mac OS Updates. Many of you have received notice of termination on the original user group software licensing agreement. A new agreement that excludes all Mac OS Updates, including older ones, replaces the original. If you sign the new agreement, you can still distribute other Apple software updates.

The explanation? Apple wants to control the Mac OS update customer experience. We worked hard to produce those updates, we want customers to visit our website to get them. Those of you with low-speed internet connections can get the updates on CD from Apple for a nominal fee. This is not just a user group issue. It affects Apple software licensees across the board."
