Apple expo 2000 Begins in Paris Tomorrow

, 9/13, as we've noted for some time. Steve Jobs' keynote address will be 4 am ET and 1 am PT. That's too early for a live webcast to the US, Apple says, so Apple is foregoing providing one. However, Apple has already set up a special web site which will offer QuickTime views of the expo and, hopefully, Jobs' keynote.

What to expect? Well, Steve Jobs told us at Seybold that the public beta of Mac OS X would be out tomorrow, the first day of Apple expo 2000, so expect him to demo it. Hardware? Who knows? The iBook is the longest in the tooth at present so it would be the primary candidate for a refreshment. If IBM is making enough G3 CPUs faster than 500 MHz, then we might see a welcome speed bump of the PowerBooks now that the G4s have been bumped with dual CPUs. Will we get further hints about what, if anything, will fill the sixth cell adjacent to the G4 Cube in Apple's now 2x3 product matrix? I don't think so but hope springs eternal that we will some day see another Apple sub-PowerBook-sized computer, a really incredibly designed device for the mobile executive to complement the executive's desktop G4 Cube.
