FireWireDirect.Com--What is its relationship to Mactell?

Like many other web sites we received a press release last Friday entitled "Immediate Release." It was purportedly from "PR Director FirewireDirect.com" and we posted an excerpt. It basically contained a claim that FireWireDirect.Com would take over the former Mactell FirePower line of FireWire devices. It also included an somewhat unflattering quote purportedly from Roy Stocker, former Mactell CEO and part owner of FireWireDirect.Com. MacWEEK is now reporting that the email is bogus and that FireWireDirect.Com will not be doing business with the company that built the FirePower devices for Mactell. It is also claimed that Stocker is an employee and part owner, not the founder despite having originally registered the FireWireDirect.Com domain name according to MacWEEK. We have no idea who originated the release beyond the information contained in the header as we posted.
