Follow Up--AppleWorks 6, More Good News

from Dana Baggett, "I used AW 6 today for another letter and everything went well, although I didn't repeat the series of steps that led to disaster the other day. I used a stationery template brought over from AW 5 with a header and footer for name, address, etc. Then, I decided to see just how to go about setting up subsequent pages to use a different header and footer without losing the first page, something I hadn't attempted before now. I don't write that many printed letters exceeding one page anymore. (Using Title Page doesn't do it.) Suffice it to say, by using AW 6 Help I managed it quite handily by creating another Section. (Perhaps I could have done so easily using AW 5 Help, too. I just had never tried it.)

Incidentally, using the on board Help system is the obvious answer to gripes I have read elsewhere about little or no "documentation," thin printed manuals, etc. The Help system is built in to Mac OS 9 too. I mean, come on.

I did use the Envelope Assistant again, this time for a 9 x 12 envelope. Same bug. But, it didn't crash. And, once you know the score, you can easily work around it. I found the buttons for text selection handy. One curiosity. If you highlight a word you're not sure the spelling of and hit the spell checker button, it spell checks the entire document, not the word selected. Under the same scenario when accessing the spell checker under Edit>Writing Tools you can get to Check Selection Spelling but it is more awkward.

As you have said, we can hope that these minor "issues" will be resolved with AW 6.1. But, hey, I like the look and feel of it. And the Help system works! "
