Follow Up--Macsense XRouter Pro, AirPort and UDP
Not sure I understand the issue with UDP and AirPort, as you mention in today's report on the MacSense router... 'The UDP protocol, the best for streaming QuickTime video, worked on all computers connected directly to the switch and hub. However, none of the computers connected via AirPort could receive UDP, a problem with AirPort not the router.'
I use QuickTime streaming on my Pismo PowerBook, via UDP, via Airport, via the LinkSys router with ports forwarded (DMZ also works, but not simultaneously), via cablemodem. In fact, I was able to stream the high-bandwidth version of the NY Macworld keynote so well, I ran it to videotape via the SVHS port. While setting that up, I tried switching to HTTP streaming, but the quality suffered.
So I'm fairly sure UDP works over Airport. Is it just some funky interaction with the MacSense router?" [Maybe. I'll check this out as a part of the full comparison-Bill.]
