Follow Up--Macsense XRouter Pro and UDP thru AirPort

In our review published on Monday, we reported that we could not get the UDP protocol to work on any Mac connected via AirPort with the Macsense XRouter Pro. UDP is a streaming QuickTime video protocol that is reported to be better than the alternative, HTTP. Well, it works for Roy Gosewehr!

"All my Mac clients (including the AirPort Base Station) use XRouter as a DHCP server. I have WEP enabled on my AirPort. Distribute IP is not enabled on the AirPort. I am currently using XRouter firmware version 1.17 (April 26, 2000). XRouter RIP is disabled. I have no streaming proxy setup in QT. On the iBook end of things, QuickTime 4.1.2 on Mac OS 9.0.4. I have no idea why this works for me and not for you. Hmmmm. Just in case, I have DSL through Mindspring/Covad so I have the XRouter set up to handle the PPPoE connection. (PPPoE doesn't work too well from the iBook side of the AirPort. ;-)"

We do not use PPPoE with our cable modem. Could that be the key?
