[10:30a] Follow Up--Mac OS 9 Audio Update 1.2/Mac OS ROM v3.2.1 Issue of not booting on a Rev.A iMac 233 noted by Eugene Chan below earlier today. Apple posted this TIL which matches Mac OS ROM versions with Mac OS and computer. It matches Mac OS ROM 3.0 with iMacs using Mac OS 9 other than the new (Kihei) models. It matches up ROM 3.2.1 with the new iMacs (Kihei) and the PowerMac G4 (Sawtooth). [Dana Baggett] However, the matches are mostly for what shipped with the Mac OS or computer product or a computer-specific update. It is unclear as to whether a later ROM like 3.2.1 that comes with a software update like Audio Update 1.2 will or will not work or on other computers. Audio Update 1.2 installed Mac OS ROM 3.2.1 on my B&W G3 and my daughter's iBook and it appears to work fine on both. The Apple note on Audio Update 1.2 restricts it to all Macs using OS 9 with built-in USB ports but that includes a Rev.A iMac. Indeed, the Audio Update 1.2 installer places it in the Rev.A iMac's system folder causing the boot failure experienced by Eugene.
