Mac OS 9.1 Updater Issues

1. The computers froze before installation could begin. It turned out that we had to force quit "Software Update Engine" during the "freeze" before the installation progress box pops up. Extensions should be turned off before installation. This worked. [Dana Baggett did not have this problem.]

2. Microsoft Office 98 quits with Type 1 and Type 2 errors when Word or PowerPoint are launched or freezes when Excel is launched. This is annoying but there was a problem with Mac OS 9 and 9.0.4 which Microsoft fixed so I hope they do it again for Mac OS 9.1. Corel WordPerfect 3.5e and AppleWorks 6 work fine in limited testing.

3. Microsoft Outlook Express, when launched, frequently returns an error associated with the English dictionary. However, the dialog box can be dismissed with no apparent effect.

4. DiskWarrior 2.0.2--So far, the only extension that I have found that does not load with Mac OS 9.1 is Disk Warrior 2.02. I reinstalled it just to be sure it wasn't damaged. The 2.1 version is a CD that is a $29.95 upgrade 3-4 weeks away (I've ordered it.). Let's hope that it has a new extension that loads with 9.1. [Dana Baggett]
