IE 5.0

One significant problem that I've encountered and reported yesterday is the text overlap on the Apple WWDC page. Some web sites, e.g. MacFixIt's sidebar, are not displayed correctly. Several readers wrote that they had problems with QuickTime 4.1 movies but I tried the trailer for Disney's Dinosaur on Apple's QuickTime web site and it worked fine. I didn't try more since I am restricted to a hotel's miserable 26.4K connection this week. But I did encounter another QT-related problem. I couldn't stop the movie from downloading and go to another site. I had to close the IE5.0 browser window and open a new one to get "unstuck". Then while I was surfing all of a sudden no bookmarked URL Favorite would work. I kept getting "No such device or address". It took quitting and relaunching IE 5.0 to solve that problem. Bill Jensen wrote me that he had so many crashes after installing 5.0 that he went back to IE 4.5 to wait for v5.01. Fortunately,I've had no crash problems. I normally use Netscape Communicator 4.72 and I still will. IE 5.0 has too many problems for me, more than IE 4.5.
