MacPopUp Use Feedback
from Gary Smith, "I noticed your blurb about MacPopUp. You may want to know that this program works as advertised, as long as all Macs and PCs are on the same zone. In my testing, I found that Macs on a different AppleTalk zone were invisible and unable to receive or send messages to one another. I received no response from Technical Support at the Kanex Group, but did get a reply from Paul Pen, VP of Sales and Marketing:
'I must apologize that our Tech Support department hasn't yet replied to your message. It seems to me that the certain TCP/IP settings on machines in different zones can cause such problem.'
Mr. Pen asked for our TCP/IP settings, thinking that looking at the subnet settings may reveal why MacPopUp won't communicate across zones.
Other than that, the program is easy to set-up and operate. However, users with a complex network may want to extensively test the program before purchasing. If I can work out the zone problems, I will be purchasing a site license."
