Multiple Users v1.3 Software Update

Dana Baggett's iMac SL 350 found the update Friday night using the Software Update control panel of Mac OS 9.0.4. "Here's what the Software Update log reports:

'Friday, June 2, 2000 8:14 PM'

'Installed: Multiple Users Software"

My PowerBook 2400c's Software Update control panel reported no new updates. Perhaps the update is only for the newest UMA Macs. According to Dana, "I have Multi-User StartUp 1.3 (160 K) attributed to Macintosh Manager 1.3. dated April 5, 2000. As far as I can tell I never downloaded, let alone installed, Macintosh Manager 1.3." My Multiple Users control panel and Multi-User Startup extension are v. 1.1 installed by Mac OS 9. [6:30a -- Update: Jubel Chen confirms that Multi-User Startup Extension 1.3 was installed via the Software Update control panel on his iBook but not his G3 desktop. Bill Jensen wrote that nothing was found for his G4 Yikes (he got it Sunday). 3:30p -- Update 2: Many users, John Garde was the first, reported that Multiple User Software Update was located and installed on a non-UMA Mac and suggested activating the older Multiple User control panel and Multi-User Startup extension before using the Software Update control panel. Sure enough, that worked for me on my PowerBook 2400c, iBook and PowerBase 180. However, the PowerMac G4, Blue & White G3 and 7300 all found the update and installed it without enabling the older inits. I can not explain the inconsistencies.--Bill]
