Apple AirPort Base Station Issue

Apple issued a service bulletin on AirPort Base Stations with serial numbers PW940XXXXXX-PW952XXXXXX according to a note on MacNN [Dana Baggett]:

"Apple has identified an issue with a small number of AirPort Base
Stations, which causes the following symptoms - even after a hard reset:

Continuously blinking status lights No response to wired or wireless
connections Resetting every few seconds

The affected AirPort Base Stations fall in the following serial number
range:

PW940XXXXXXX to PW952XXXXXX

If customers have AirPort Base Stations in the specified serial number
range and exhibiting the symptoms described above, please advise them to
call 1-800-APL-CARE in the United States or 1-800-263-3394 in Canada. An
Apple phone agent will provide assistance in replacing affected Base
Stations for customers."

Note on Tomorrow's Edition: As everyone should know, Macworld begins tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Javits Convention Center in New York City with Steve Jobs' keynote address at 9am ET. Here is Apple's web page to see and hear it via QuickTime streaming video web cast. Dana Baggett, who found that his QuickTime settings had inexplicably become scrambled, suggests that one check their QuickTime version and settings to be sure all are in order well in advance of the web cast.

We are taking the train to NYC this afternoon and will attend the keynote live. Last year we watched it on the big screen at Apple's Market Center in Reston, VA, before taking the train to NYC and we missed out on the excitement of the live presentation as well as the free Apple Pro optical mouse. Not this year. Events, however, may preclude us from posting our Wednesday edition before the keynote. We are going to be selective and report on those software and hardware developments that we find on the Expo floor that we believe are the most interesting to our readers.
