Apple Reduces Price of Power Mac G4 733 with CD-RW by $100

A couple of weeks ago The Apple Store included a "Special Offer" of Apple's high end Power Mac G4, the 733, that did not include the DVD-R SuperDrive for $3,099. The press release announced that, as of Monday, the configuration will cost $2999, a $100 reduction. More important, perhaps, is that the press release announced that the availability of 733 MHz G4 CPUs is greater than expected. Hopefully, this will lead to rapid further increases in G4 CPU speed closing the MHz gap with Intel/AMD chips.
