Follow Up--Maryland's Montgomery County Public Schools Going Dark

According to this Washington Post article, MCPS is scrapping the nonfunctional, Wintel-only $4 million Student Information System that they purchased last year. Unfortunately, MCPS is moving ahead with the replacement of Macs with Wintels from Dell, spending $3.4 million for 4,000. Macs Only! has followed this story since being alerted by a reader last May. We are still waiting for the requested documentation supporting this decision. We were promised by Education Board Chair Patricia O'Neill that we would get a reply from MCPS's CIO John Q. Porter. A resident of Montgomery County was also promised a reply but none has been forthcoming to date.
