From the Dark Side--M$ Windows XP Catch 22 Foiled by a Mac

Gates and company are promoting their new Windows XP operating system through a public beta program. The first beta, rc1, was available as a 500+ MB download in early July or a CD to be mailed at the end of July. The download is an .iso file that needs to be burned to a CD in order to be installed. The second beta, rc2, was released last week but is only available as a 500 MB download. It too is an .iso file that has to be burned to a CD. The only problem is that our Roxio Easy CD Creator software (the PC version of Toast) is only compatible with Windows ME, not Windows XP. The first XP beta being installed as an upgrade, the procedure recommended by Microsoft, left us with no way to use the PC to burn the second beta CD with that PC. Not to be bested by M$'s Catch 22, we used our Power Mac G4 533DP running Virtual PC 4.0 and portable USB VST CD-RW burner to thwart this Gatesian conundrum. We'll let you know later if there is anything new in rc2 that's worth posting.
