AppleCare Complaint? Here's a Dell Story
"A lady down the street bought a Dell a few weeks ago. (She knows I'm a Mac fanatic so it wasn't mentioned until now.) It replaced an older wintel box. What she really bought was the deal = $799. with a Pentium 4 and a package of whatever hardware including a year of in-home service.
"The hard drive crashed a couple of days ago. She spent a couple of hours with M$ phone support - the fellow was in India - running various diagnostics. After proving the obvious, he told her to call Dell which she promptly did. Being Sunday she left a message on a machine.
"She got a call from a Dell technican while she was at work Monday.
'I'll be out this morning,' he said.
'No you won't!' she said. 'I'm at work today and tomorrow. But, I'll be home Wednesday. Come then,' she said, already annoyed.
'Oh, we're supposed to service these machines within 24 hours. You'll go to the bottom of the list if I have to come Wednesday,' said the Dell Dude.
"So, the lady now feels like a second-class citizen. If no technican shows up today, she plans to raise Hell. Which, come to think of it, rhymes with Dell."
