MacFixIt to Charge $24.95 Annual Subscription Fee
for access to search its troubleshooting archives dating back to 1996 and Special Report series. MacFixit Pro, the subscription service which will also be ad-free, will start January 28. MacFixIt's daily front pages, previous day's pages, software library and forums will still be free. MacFixIt, founded by Ted Landau, was originally devoted exclusively to troubleshooting. It remains the top Mac troubleshooting resource on the web, in our opinion, but it added daily news, software updates, discussion forums and a staff of 2 full time and 6 part time editors in recent years as advertising made the site a profitable commercial enterprise. The new subscription fee is required because of declining advertising revenue according to the MacFixIt Pro page. MacFixIt is owned by TechTracker.Com, Inc., the owner of VersionTracker.com.
