Microtech Zio! and Mac OS X 10.1.3 Workaround

N.Fraga wrote that he got his Zio! Smartmedia card reader to work under Mac OS X 10.1.3 by removing the just-released v1.0.3 driver (eUSB SmartMedia10.1.2.kext) and leaving the v1.0.2 driver (eUSB SmartMedia.kext) in his ~System/Library/Extensions folder. This worked for us too. That's one more step for us to Classic-free Mac OS X. Only Adobe GoLive remains!

From John Pope, "I prefer the command line...

    <cd /System/Library/Extensions>
    <sudo rm -fr "eUSB SmartMedia10.1.2.kext">

...and reboot. It works. I ran into the same annoyance. Microtech posted this 'solution' on their Q/A (search for 'OS X')."

"PS: Recent Olympus cameras auto mount on the OSX desktop with no 3rd party software. I'd rather have a stubby USB adapter than the Zio! at this point."
