Montgomery County, MD, Public Schools Move Closer to Being Completely Over on the Dark Side

From a reader, "Monty Cty Public Schools plans to convert 44 elementary schools this summer to Dell PCs under an accelerated 'TechMod' program. I got it confirmed from two different sources. They are doing this apparently because of the need to run a program that allows MCPS to keep track of how well students are doing on a school by school basis." Frequent readers will recall that we first raised the issue over a year ago when a wholesale conversion to PCs was planned based on no analysis. Ultimately, the MCPS CIO stated that not all Macs would be replaced and sent Macs Only! a general letter with no supporting documentation for the move to replace most Macs. Most of the computers in K-12 are Macs. This latest information spells their end. If any readers have further information, please let us know.
