No Waiting for New iMacs at Apple Stores?

"I've been reading about all the people out there who ordered their iMac right after it was announced, and are still waiting, and also 3-5 week waits for any orders placed today."
"Well, maybe I'm missing something, but last night on a whim, I called the Tyson Corners [VA] store from Raleigh NC, asked them to hold an iMac for me, drove up this morning, picked it up, and have it here tonite! No wait, just a long drive. Now why does everyone else seem to be waiting when they're available at the Apple Store just for the asking? In fact, they seemed to be keeping a list of who purchased new iMacs today and I was about tenth on the list."
