No Confusion--Panther Pre-Orders Arriving Friday, October 24th

There's been much ado on some Mac web sites about when your copy of Panther (Mac OS X 10.3) will arrive if pre-ordered right away from the on line Apple Store. As we reported yesterday, Apple's email ad stated:

Place your order for Mac OS X version 10.3 “Panther” today and be among the first to receive your copy the evening of October 24, 2003.

Now that's pretty clear to us. The checkout statement and email confirming the order state:

PM Delivery 10/24

And that is pretty clear too. The only possible confusion comes from checking the Order Status web page which says that shipping is:

On or before 10/24

But this is still consistent with the first two pieces of information. Still some Mac web sites have contacted Apple and have posted that they been advised the Panther will arrive 10/25, really making the confusion.

Today, we received an ad from MacMall stating that if you pre-order Panther from them, it will arrive on Friday evening 10/24 just like the Apple Store's ad. That confirms 10/24 for us. If MacMall can get Panther to buyers by 10/24, so can the Apple Store.

We're sticking with our original advice. Order right now and get it by Friday evening, 10/24.
