is available from many FW800 drive vendors including WiebeTech, OWC, LaCie and Firewire Direct. This firmware update will fix the problem of dead FW800 drives after installing Panther and rebooting with the drive attached. Check the web site of your FW800 drive's vendor or manufacturer. Some Mac web sites have claimed similar problems with FW400 drives but we have not seen one in many Panther installations with FW400 drives attached--YMMV.
