PowerLogix Announced Dual 1.2 and Dual 1.4 GHz G4 CPU Upgrades
PowerLogix announced new PowerForce G4 Dual CPU cards featuring the latest Motorola PowerPC, the 7457. Running at speeds of 1.2 and 1.4 GHz, these new CPU cards have twice the L2 cache (512K) of the previous 7455-based cards (256K) for additional performance. In addition, the new 7457 draws an incredible 40% less peak power than the previous chip for cool and reliable, high-performance operation.
The cards are compatible with all PowerMac G4 towers beginning with the "AGP Graphics" model, up to and including the QuickSilver 2002. PowerForce Series 100 cards are compatible with the 100MHz bus PowerMacs, and Series 133 cards are compatible with the 133MHz bus PowerMacs. They are not available for G4 Cubes yet.
Retail Pricing (street prices may be lower): $799 for a PowerForce Dual @ 1.2GHz, and $1199 for PowerForce Dual @ 1.4 GHz. Availability: first production will be shipping in approximately 1-2 weeks, with constrained supplies of the higher speed model.
