The G3 CPU is Now History--Apple Released G4 iBooks

The new iBooks get a 800 MHz G4 (12" model--$1,099), 933 MHz G4 (low end 14" model--$1,299) and 1 GHz G4 (high end 14' model--$1,499). They all get faster ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 32MB DDR graphics, a slot-loading CD-RW/DVD combo optical drive, AirPort Extreme capability and USB 2.0 ports as major new features.

In addition, the 1GHz eMacs are now $799 for a base model with combo CD-RW/DVD drive and $1099 for one with a 4x SuperDrive, more RAM (256 vs 128 MB) and a larger hard drive (80 vs 60 GB). Both take AirPort Extreme cards.
