"Regular" Spam

Lately, we have been getting 600+ (and growing) "regular" spam emails a day at our MacsOnly.com addresses. This deluge has resulted from our posting of a number of our email addresses on Macs Only! over the nearly eight years of our existence, all of which have been harvested for spam. We almost never get spam on our Mac.com or Earthlink.net mailboxes because we've never exposed them to spammers' bots and have never used them for online purchases or other such online activities. In addition, Apple maintains server side spam filters for .Mac mail that seem to be pretty good.

About 90 per cent of the 600+ spam emails are filtered to the "Junk" folder of our X Mail client and we routinely look through them for incorrectly identified email and delete the rest. Doing this and sorting through some 50-70 spam a day that are missed by the Junk mail filter is a real pain. It is what most people do to cope with spam. However, we travel a lot and have to use slow dial-up connections in hotels around the country. 600+ emails take a very long time to download over the 24K dial-up connections that we commonly encounter and this time is on top of the reviewing and deletion work.
