ATI Trounced Nvidia in Battle of the Titan's Latest Graphics

in this CNet review. CNet ran the yet to be released ATI RADEON X800 Platinum Edition (256 MB VRAM) against the yet to be released Nvidia GeForce 6800 Ultra Extreme and the ATI card won hands down. Both cards will be available for PCs in mid to late May for $499. There is also a 128 MB VRAM model of the ATI X800 that will retail for $399 and it beat Nvidia's best in several tests. Of course, the tests were performed with beta drivers. Performance usually increases with driver development. Unfortunately, there is no word on when, if ever, these graphics cards will make it to the Mac. ATI has yet to release the promised RADEON 9800 Pro Special Edition for the Mac.
