IBM to Release Lotus Workplace Software for Mac OS X

according to this NYT article. Lotus Workplace is desktop office software that will compete with Microsoft Office by being cheaper and more secure. It will run in an enterprise setting as a so-called "thin client" from IBM servers on any operating system. IBM developed Lotus Workplace from OpenOffice with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications and has been developing so-called "middleware" to run applications on any computer operating system. Windows and Linux versions of Workplace will be first and Mac OS X will follow later this year.
