Apple in Group Developing Next-Gen Standard Display Interface

A group of leading computer and electronics comanies, including Apple, announced that they are working on a new standard for the digital display interface called UDI or unified display interface. UDI will provide compatibility among consumer electronics and computers. UDI will replace VGA and will include compatibility with DVI (digital video interface), now Apple's standard, and HDMI (high definition multimedia interface) for HDTVs.

Hopefully, it will be similar to Apple's ADC that it dropped in favor of the more ubiquitous DVI. ADC supplied power and USB along with the display signal in a single cable and snap-on connector. More... [Dana Baggett]
