Apple Posted Fix for Safari 1.3 Crashing

Some people have had problems with Safari 1.3 after applying Mac OS X 10.3.9 Update, i.e. crashing on launch (incompatible plug-ins) or crashing when attempting to load Java "applets."

To fix the latter Java-related problem, Apple posted a test and a fix in this KBase article. If the simple test is positive, Apple suggests installing Java 1.4.2 Update 2, if not already installed, and installing or reinstalling Security Update 2005-002 regardless. [Dana Baggett & Bill Fox]
