Brief Hands-On Report--Apple Safari 2.0.1 Update (v1.3.1 is Also Out)

Safari 2.0.1 for Tiger (10.4.2) and 1.3.1 for Panther (10.3.9) have been released by Apple. The new updates to Apple's Web browser are available via the System Preferences Software Update pane or as standalone updaters (2.0.1 and 1.3.1). The Read Me file states:

Safari version 2.0.1 for Mac OS X Tiger improves website compatibility, application stability and support for 3rd party web applications.

The Read Me file for v1.3.1 is identical except it says 1.3.1 instead of 2.0.1.

Since we are using Tiger (10.4.2) on all of our Macs, we downloaded and installed Safari 2.0.1 with no problems. We note that Apple fixed the Javascript problem which caused difficulties with Web sites like www.edmunds.com. We found no problems with v2.0.1 after hours of web surfing. [Bill Fox]
