Consumer Reports Still High on Apple's Macs--September Issue
For Desktops, CR noted that its user surveys continue to indicate that Apple is "top-notch" in reliability and tech support.
CR said that the iMac 20" 2 GHz model performed well in its tests and is priced the same as comparable Windows models. It cited the eMac combo drive 1.25 GHz machine as "more user friendly than comparable budget Windows models and includes a CRT." It faulted both models for "limited expansion capability."
For Laptops, again Apple was the CR pick for reliability and tech support.
In a brief discussion prefacing the ratings, CR noted that most PC brands are "more repair prone than Apple" and all PC brands provide "undistinguished" tech support. [Dana Baggett]
