First Notes on Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger--One Nice Surprise and Two Glitches So Far
The nice surprise is that Tiger runs faster than Panther on the 20" iMac G5, a desktop with a single 1.8GHz G5. Just how much faster? Well, enough to notice it without objective measurements. Look for our comprehensive "How Fast Is It?" article on Tiger to be posted on Monday.
The first glitch is that the 20" iMac G5 does not always automatically connect to the AirPort Express base station on startup. We will be investigating this further with several Macs, including PowerBooks, and several types of base stations.
The second glitch is that our Apple Wireless (Bluetooth) Keyboard was not automatically recognized by our iMac G5 on two restarts. We had to re-pair it. Curiously the Apple Wireless (Bluetooth) Mouse was immediately recognized with no problem. We will also check out this problem on another Mac, so stay tuned this weekend! [Dana Baggett]
