Brief Hands-On Report--Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat 7.0.7 Updates Released

Adobe released v7.0.7 updates for its Acrobat Professional, Acrobat Standard and free Reader applications. Each update is available via "Check for updates now..." under the Help menu. They are also available as stand-alone updaters: Reader and Acrobat. According to the Adobe support pages,

Adobe Reader 7.0.7 update:

The Adobe Reader 7.0.7 update adds new functionality, fixes a number of bugs, and is more secure. Adobe recommends that all Adobe Reader 7.0x users apply this update.

New features/improvements in Adobe Reader 7.0.7

• Support for new 3D content: Reader 7.0.7 allows you to view, interact with, annotate, and measure 3D content embedded in PDF documents created with Adobe Acrobat 3D.
• Form improvements: Static and dynamic PDF forms created or enabled by Adobe LiveCycle products now work more efficiently.

Adobe Acrobat 7.0.7 Professional & Standard:

The Adobe Acrobat 7.0.7 Professional [and Standard] update adds new functionality, fixes a number of bugs, and is more secure. Adobe recommends that all Adobe Acrobat 7.0.x Professional users apply this update.

Improvements in Acrobat 7.0.7 Professional include the following:

• Support for new 3D content View, interact with, annotate, and measure 3D content embedded in PDF documents created with Adobe Acrobat 3D. Also, view and interact with the 3D model tree.
  
• Additional stability improvements.

We updated our copies of the Reader and Acrobat Professional applications via the "Check for updates now..." selection under the applications' Help menu. But one of us had trouble getting a Reader 7.0.7 update (not showing the update) and had to download the stand-alone file. It seems that if you have Reader and Acrobat Professional installed, updating one fools Adobe's Update Manager into thinking both have been updated. Otherwise, all updates went without incident.
