Printer Cartridge Page Standard Backed by Industry Heavyweights

Several major printer manufacturers, including Kodak, Canon and Hewlett-Packard, are backing a standard put out by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Standard ISO/IEC 24711:2006 sets the procedure for testing ink cartridges for inkjet printers. The standard specifies that nine cartridges must be used to determine an average lifetime, that a standard test document consists of five pages printed at default printer settings and the machine on which the cartridge must be tested.

The standard still needs industry adoption but this standard is a great step in being able to compare inkjet cartridges. More... [Dana Baggett]
