Brief Hands-On Report--Parallels Desktop for Mac 3.0 Build 5582 Final Release--Improved Leopard Compatibility

Parallels released Desktop for Mac 3.0 Build 5582, it's final distribution release that includes improved Leopard compatibility. It is available for download within the application under the Help menu's "Check for Updates..." or via MacUpdate.com or from this Parallels Web page.

We downloaded the update because "Check for Updates..." under the Help menu failed, possibly because we are running the release candidate Build 5580. We uninstalled the previous version Build 5580, installed Build 5582 and restarted our MacBook Pro. The restart is not required by the installer but we have found that restarting prevents many problems when we install a new version of Parallels. Then, we updated Parallels Tools for our Windows XP virtual machine and finally updated the operating system with the latest Microsoft patches. In brief use, we encountered no problems. [Bill Fox]
