Good News on Adobe CS3 Web and Design Editions Upgrades regarding Dreamweaver CS3

In our report on Adobe's new Creative Suite 3 (CS3), we noted that since Dreamweaver did not come with CS2, it was unclear that a CS3 upgrade package containing Dreamweaver CS3 would provide a working version of Dreamweaver CS3.

Our concern stemmed from Adobe's Creative Suite 2.3 Upgrade to CS2 which was advertised to contain both Acrobat Professional 8 and Dreamweaver 8 upgrades for the Mac edition. However, while Acrobat 7 came with CS2 and it was upgraded to version 8, no version of Dreamweaver came with CS2. As a result, one was left with an unusable copy of Dreamweaver 8 that required a full serial number from a previous version of Dreamweaver that one did not have.

We received a response to our concern from Adobe that a purchaser of a CS3 Web or Design edition, containing Dreamweaver CS3, as an upgrade for CS2 would indeed receive a working copy of Dreamweaver CS3 after the upgrade in contrast to the CS2.3 upgrade experience. [Bill Fox]
