New MacLinkPlus Deluxe 16.0000 has Microsoft Office 2007 Open XML File Converters

Another company has beaten Microsoft in releasing Mac translators for Microsoft Office 2007's new and incompatible default file format called Open XML, at least for Word 2007 and Excel 2007. DataViz has released MacLinkPlus Deluxe 16.0000, the venerable Mac file translator, with read-only translators for Microsoft Word 2007 and Excel 2007--details here.

The Microsoft Mac Business Unit has promised Mac translators according to their December 5, 2006 blog entry:

"There will be a delta between general availability of Win Office (January) and converters from MacBU (expected late March/early April.)"

If they are still on track, Microsoft's translators (hopefully a complete set and read/write) should be out any day now. [Bill Fox]
