Brief Hands-On Report--MacBook Air SMC Update 1.0

Apple released MacBook Air SMC Update 1.0. It did not show up in Software Update on my MacBook Air, probably because it is new enough and does not need the update. It is also available for download as a stand-alone updater from this Apple Web page. According to Apple,

The SMC Update fine tunes the speed and operation of the internal fan.

First, I checked Software Update and the updater did not show. Then, I downloaded the stand-alone updater and ran it. The result was a message that my MacBook Air did not need the update. Apparently, the update is for very early MacBook Airs. [Bill Fox]
