Brief Hands-On Report--Time Capsule and AirPort Updates v1.0
Apple released Time Capsule and AirPort Updates v1.0 for Macs running Mac OS X 10.5.2 (Client only, not Server). It is available via Software Update or as a stand-alone file from this Apple Web page. According to Apple,
This update is recommended for all users and includes compatibility improvements for using Time Machine with Time Capsule, as well as AirPort driver fixes.
I downloaded and installed the update via Software Update on a number of Macs (MacBook Air, Mac Pro(2008), PowerMac G4 Cube, PowerBook G4) running Mac OS X 10.5.2 before the new Time Capsule/Base Station firmware 7.3.1 updater was released. No problems were encountered during the updates nor subsequently during operational use of my Time Capsule and AirPort Base Stations. [Update: Apparently, this update enables the capability to use Time Machine with a USB disk attached to an AirPort Extreme "n" Base Station. I have not yet confirmed this but Macworld has.] [Bill Fox]
