's review of the Village Tronic 3D Overdrive was revised to include the new aggressive pricing, to clarify that using Myth with the ATi Xclaim VR Rago Pro (the 9600's default video) resulted in no video acceleration by that card and to update the Ray Dream 3D section to be consistent with rendering tests conducted by Bare Feats. In the latter, the Countach was beautifully rendered in 30 seconds on the 9600/PowerForceG3 250 versus 35 seconds on the Apple PowerMac G3 266 tested by Bare Feats.

Apple's Mac OS Up-To-Date program is still alive for Mac OS 8.1. Today, I received my copy of the Mac OS 8.1 CD ordered just two weeks ago for the 9600 that came with System 7.5.5. Cost? $9.95 plus tax. The CD came with a Mac OS 8 Installation Manual.

Apple is not so swift in providing rebates. I'm still waiting for the $75 rebate for my QuickTake 200 digital camera sent in over 6 weeks ago.

I'm also still waiting for the free 1.5 MB cartridge for my SyQuest SyJet received for Christmas.
