Confirmed--iBook AC Adapter Works With PowerBook 2400c
I tried out my daughter's iBook AC adapter with my 2400c. It worked perfectly as expected and as predicted in Macs Only!'s report from Macworld Expo NYC '99. The computer-side plugs are identical. The iBook adapter is 45W so it will charge faster than the 2400c adapter (36W) when charging and running at the same time. The 2400c AC adapter has been its weak point as the computer-side cord frequently breaks at the brick end. I love the way the cord rolls up on the iBook's adapter, it's not likely to break and there's no cord mess in the case. The drawbacks are that the iBook adapter is a bit heavier, the outlet-side power cord is bulkier than the 2400c's and it costs $70 versus $20. I am still waiting for The Apple Store to ship the iBook AC adapter that I ordered July 26th--it's still "Being Assembled".
