Here's an iBook FAQ on keyboard and trackpad features. The first six function keys (F1-F6) are assigned tasks dealing with the screen brightness and contrast and sound volume. However, there is a new Keyboard Control Panel with an option button that allows the F7-F12 function keys to be programmed for any task. Apple also released a bunch of other informational TILs on the iBook .
