New Flurry of Mac Titles

"Software developers are finally convinced that Apple Computer's share of the market, drive upward by the success of its iMac and PowerBook computers, will continue to grow. Indeed, the number of new titles is almost overwhelming.

Among the games coming to the Mac are "SimCity 3000," "Civilization: Call to Power," "Quake III," "Falcon 4.0" and Electronic Arts' football simulation "Madden 2000."

New titles for desktop and Web publishing and graphic programs are also hitting the market. One example is Canvas 6.0 by Deneba Software.

Even more surprising, there's a trickle of new business productivity software for the Mac.

The trend began last year when Microsoft released a new version of Office 98. Since then, smaller players have released new software or announced coming releases. For example, Brain Forest has released a powerful outliner that works on both Mac and the Palmpilot. And Nisus Software is nearing release of an upgrade for its acclaimed Nisus Writer word processor.
