Bad News from COMDEX? 3dfx Retreats to Chip Business

, dropping the manufacture of end user cards, according to this CNN article. 3dfx is reverting to its prior business model which involves just designing and selling graphics chips to third party card makers. This is the business model of arch rival nVidia. According to a 3dfx note on Accelerate Your Mac! this change will not affect Mac cards since they will be simply built by another company.
