Warning! on Imation ROM Update
Imation released new drivers v3.2 for its SuperDisk Drive to improve Mac OS 9 compatibility and a new SuperDisk ROM Update v1.0 for drives built before December 1998 (see below). Also available is a recent USB Floppy Enabler PACE anti-piracy extension. My SDD worked fine after installation of the new drivers and the PACE extension. However, because the SDD was built in September 1998 and in the interest of keeping our readers informed, I made the fatal mistake of trying to install the ROM updater. Everything went fine until I reconnected the SDD and the update began and then froze. The updater window reported "Storage Class Driver Dispatch Table not found FindSymbal Status: -2802." After restarting, the SDD would not mount any kind of diskette nor would it respond to running the updater again. I will report on the results of consulting Imation's Customer Service. In the meantime, I recommend NOT updating the ROM as it could render your SDD useless.
