Apple's Semi-Annual Financial Analysts Conference Call
consisted primarily of a repeat of the Macworld Expo keynote presentation. The salient points were that Apple plans to bring the SuperDrive, a DVD-R/CD-RW drive, to the consumer sector next year, that the Cube is not going away even though its market is smaller than originally anticipated and that Apple will be profitable in the second quarter with improvements in Q3 and Q4. Apple will reduce non-people expenses and plans no layoffs. A replay is available here. From Dana Baggett, "I tuned in just for a brief few minutes to check on streaming quality of the audio feed from the Apple analysts meeting. (It sounded as if Steve was repeating his MW SF presentation, at least the progression into the Digital Era, from what I heard.) Anyway, quality was excellent here in the hinterlands (Bailey's Island, Maine)."
