AirPort 2.0 for Mac OS X v1.1

is available for download but not by the Software Update preference panel. We installed it on two iMacs, two Cubes and a Power Mac G4 without problem. However, it would not install on our PowerBook G4. The installer quit just before the first screen finished drawing. We downloaded another copy and got the same negative result.

[Updated] PowerBook G4 Mac OS X Update Problems: We continue to have problems updating Mac OS X 10.1.1 with the latest updaters on our PowerBook G4 500. We had no problems on any of our other Macs. DVD 3.0.1 will not install on our PowerBook from the Software Update preference panel as noted yesterday. We downloaded the installer but it quit while checking the PowerBook's hard drive causing temporary loss of the OS X partition. Fortunately, running Disk Utility on the Mac OS X 10.1 Update CD allowed it to mount again and boot the PowerBook. As noted above, the installer for AirPort 2.0 v1.1 quits on launch. We do not know why this is happening but we are not alone as other readers have written us with the same problems on their PowerBook G4s. [Update: A number of emails from readers noted that they did not have the same problems with their PowerBook G4 500s. We tried manually quiting all applications. When that didn't help, we rebooted with our backup Firewire drive, our iPod, and ran Drive 10 v1.03 on our internal drive. While numerous volume structure problems were found and fixed we still couldn't download DVD 3.01 or launch the installer for AirPort 2.0 v1.1. So we started up with the iPod and ran the installers from there--worked fine. Apparently, we have some problems that Drive Utility and Drive 10 can not find and fix. However, our PowerBook seems to run fine off the internal drive with the new software installed.]
