Mac OS X 10.1 Free Upgrade May Be Free After All

During his Keynote address last Wednesday, Steve Jobs mentioned that Mac OS X 10.1 would be a free upgrade for registered owners of v10.0. At first from information posted to the Mac OS X 10.1 web page, it appeared that 10.1 would not be distributed as a download, and Steve Jobs never mentioned that it would be, but only as a CD that would cost $19.95 through the Mac Up-to-Date program. Now only this statement appears: "An upgrade CD will be available to current Mac OS X users through the Mac OS Up-to-Date program." This does not preclude there from being a downloadable version or even a free CD so we'll have to wait until Apple clears this up.
