With the price cuts one will be able to get the portable CD-RW drive of one's choice or simply pocket the difference if a CD-RW drive is not needed. Some have speculated that this portends a new PowerBook G4 but Apple issued a press release with CEO Steve Jobs stating that there would be no new hardware announcements at the Apple Paris Expo in the latter part of September. Some have pointed out, however, that this statement does not preclude an ad hoc hardware announcement nor one by Phil Schiller in his keynote at Seybold SF the same week as the Paris Expo.
