WARNING!

Do not try to download the Mac OS X 10.1.1 updater and AirPort Software 2.0 updater at the same time in the Software Update preference panel. On four separate Macs Only! computers doing so resulted in a freeze with the approximate words "Optimizing AirPort Software 2.0(2D51)" showing in the update window. Only check the Mac OS X 10.1.1 updater and after the reboot then go back to get the AirPort update. However, if the freeze happens because you tried to get both, force quit the Software Update preference panel (option-command-esc keys) and reboot immediately. Then run the Software Update preference panel again to get the AirPort 2.0 update. This worked on all four computers that froze.

[Update] Apple Released AirPort 2 Base Station with 128-bit encryption, 50 users, built-in firewall, AOL compatibility, Windows PC compatibility and a second ethernet port--still $299. Here is the web page. AirPort 2.0 software will upgrade all AirPort cards to 128-bit encryption but not current Base Stations. Here are the tech specs. The software will be available via the Software Update control/preference panel--it was not yet available at publication time. [Josh Cisneros]
